Following the success of last year’s trash2treasure recycled extravaganza we are currently seeking registrations for this years show
“Working with the Elements”.
It’s time again to transform your Rubbish into Fabulous Fashion!
This year’s event will be held on May 23rd & 24th, the weekend of the Renewable Energy Fair in Bellingen, featuring an exciting catwalk parade at Bellingen Memorial Hall each evening.
“Working with Elements” seeks to honour our planet and those who work to protect its resources and beauty. We encourage you to think of the five elements: - earth, water, air, fire and spirit. Each element has a theme and we invite you to use your wildest imagination to bring to the stage your most beautiful elemental creations.
The inspired outfits are to be made from found objects, recycled materials, organic matter and things you normally might find in the rubbish. You may enter as an individual or collaborate with others to enter as a group. If you are a Primary or Secondary student, professional artist, fashion or apparel designer or just someone who loves to create…. don’t miss this truly unique opportunity to create a wonderful piece of transformed trash into costume treasure. Your creation will be displayed in the Fashion Extravaganza and be in the running for some great prizes donated by businesses in the local community.
Categories and Prizes
Earth: Animalia - Early Primary (K, 1, 2, 3)

You are your spirit animal from this
earth - an existing, endangered species or species already lost from this planet. Bring the magic essence of this animal to your costume so that all can see its glory.
Air: Flying Creatures - Upper Primary (4, 5, 6)
Individual/Group winner $250, Runner-Up $100, Encouragement Award $100
The
air brings us many things including nourishment and spaciousness. You have taken on the essence of an air creature, a flying creature; real or imaginary. Your destiny is to keep the air true and pure, let your imagination free fall through effortless flight.
Water: Aqua Water Lovers - Lower Secondary (7, 8, 9)

Show us your liquid, lustrous self. You are a symbol of
water, show us what you would look like, who would you become? Would you appear in aquatic, god, spirit or cloud form? Dive deep, deep into the ocean, frolic on its shores, let your imagination immerse itself into icy mountain streams, bring us all the essence of this watery, slippery, silvery
elixir of life.
Fire: Fire Fantasy - Upper Secondary (10, 11, 12)
Individual/Group Winner $400, Runner-Up $150, Encouragement Award $150
Fuel your imagination with the colours orange, red , white, and think of scorching landscapes, deep passions, searing temperatures, simmering tempers, boiling liquids, sweating bodies, blinding light and the earth’s heartbeat.
Then let your costume be the evolution of colour, light, and heat. Bring luminosity to the stage; show us the fantasy of
fire in all its manifestations.
Spirit: Embody the spirit of a season – Wearable Fashion Open section (over 18 years)
Winner $500, Runner-Up $350
Embody a season, in whatever form fits your skin. A spring birth, a mid summer’s nights dream, an autumnal shade, a Snow Queen, a winter’s tale – be the season that fills your spirit with awe and bring your season’s look to our celebrations so you can fill us with the drama of the rotating seasons.
